The Avs announced today that defenseman Colby Cohen and forward Kevin Porter have been recalled from the Lake Erie Monsters. Cohen has most likely been recalled due to the injury to Ryan Wilson, which still hasn’t been fully explained by the Avs organization.

I’m not sure why Porter was recalled. Adrian Dater of the Denver Post reported last night that he saw Matt Duchene and Chris Stewart in the x-ray room after the game Thursday night, so there is a possibility that one of them is injured. Both of them as well as David Jones did not practice Friday morning, but Joe Sacco reported it to be nothing more than a “maintenance day”.

The decision to call up Porter over a guy like Mark Olver who played well while he was up with Colorado early in the season is kind of perplexing. Olver has 3 goals and 2 assists in seven games with Lake Erie and 2 assists in four games with the Avs. Porter has 0 points in six games with the Avs.
