Two Surprises & Disappointments

Hello Avs fans! It’s been a while since I have written anything because I have been pretty engrossed in my recent infatuation with hockey cards. I’ve neglected this blog since the season began and spending my free time scouring eBay and the Beckett.com message boards for cards to add to my collection. When I wasn’t doing that I was adding cards to Beckett’s trade tool and working on moving cards I don’t want for cards for my collections!
Anyways, since the All-Star break just ended and the Avalanche are getting back on the ice tonight I wanted to take a moment to write about the seasons biggest surprises and disappointments thus far. (more…)
Early Season Thoughts

Hello once again Avs fans. The Avs are returning home tonight after a five game road trip through parts of the eastern United States and Canada, and what a road trip it was. After kicking off the season with a 3-0 loss to the Detroit Red Wings at home the Avs managed to win five in a row on the road. (more…)
Potential Lines

With the season right around the corner and teams finalizing their rosters, coaches throughout the league are also working on solidifying their lines. Of course nothing is ever set in stone when it comes to line combinations, but based on today’s Avalanche practice Joe Sacco has his lines figured out. (more…)
Avs Lose Game; Hejda and Yip
1Colorado was back on the ice tonight, but this time they played host to the St. Louis Blues. Despite having many of their star players in the lineup, including Matt Duchene, Paul Stastny, and starting goaltender Semyon Varlamov, the Blues were still too much to handle. Since it wasn’t a televised game I’m not going to write a full recap, but here is what went down. (more…)
Avs Make Cuts to Begin Preseason

As expected the Colorado Avalanche made their first round of cuts yesterday afternoon prior to their opening preseason game tonight at the Dallas Stars.
The Avalanche only cut six players reducing their preseason roster from 44, which includes four players who are currently injured. There are no surprises here as none were expected to stick around too long following the conclusion of the Burgundy and White game. (more…)
