0

Following last nights preseason game against the St. Louis Blues it was obvious that more cuts had been made. Soon after the game Greg Mauldin tweeted “See ya Colorado… Hello Cleveland”. I saw this last night, but wanted to wait for an official release from the team before writing about it. (more…)

Avs Lose Game; Hejda and Yip

1

Colorado was back on the ice tonight, but this time they played host to the St. Louis Blues. Despite having many of their star players in the lineup, including Matt Duchene, Paul Stastny, and starting goaltender Semyon Varlamov, the Blues were still too much to handle. Since it wasn’t a televised game I’m not going to write a full recap, but here is what went down. (more…)

More Cuts & Preseason Update

0

The preseason cuts continue as earlier this evening the Avalanche reassigned four more players. These players join the seven who were sent back to their minor league teams yesterday.

The four players sent down were:

G Calvin Pickard (OHL)

C Justin Mercier (AHL)
C Evan Brophey (AHL)
C Garrett Meurs (WHL)

The Avs played their first preseason game last night against the Dallas Stars. The Stars won 5-2, but the Avs left a lot of their veterans at home, which is the standard for preseason games.

Calvin Pickard and Trevor Cann split duties in net. Tyson Barrie and Brad Malone led the way with a power play goal and assist each.

The Avs face-off at home against the St. Louis Blues tonight and Semyon Varlamov will get the start and is expected to go the distance. Many of the Avs veterans will be in the lineup tonight. The only two players participating tonight who played last night are David Liffiton and Barrie. Cann is the backup tonight who played half of last night’s game.

The game isn’t being televised, but the radio broadcast can be streamed on Cruisin Oldies 950AM.

Avs Make Cuts to Begin Preseason

As expected the Colorado Avalanche made their first round of cuts yesterday afternoon prior to their opening preseason game tonight at the Dallas Stars.

The Avalanche only cut six players reducing their preseason roster from 44, which includes four players who are currently injured. There are no surprises here as none were expected to stick around too long following the conclusion of the Burgundy and White game. (more…)

Day Two of Camp is in the Books

0

Today was the second day of Avalanche training camp and once again the day consisted of three scrimmages between Team Black, Team Blue, and Team Gray. I thought about taking a different route for today’s article and sharing screen-caps of tweets from people who are attending camp. After a bit of thought that seemed more challenging, and more work, than just writing something up. So I decided to include a few tweets about each game as well as write up a recap of each scrimmage.
